Excitement and love surrounded Myrabel Theobald as everyone at The Fountains of Franklin Senior Living community gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday! When asked the question of her secret for living to be 100, Myrabel replied “There is no real reason…just keep breathing and enjoy life, friends and family! I never expected to make it to this age, but I have and I enjoy my family and the people at The Fountains where I have excellent care!” Myrabel was presented with the Centenarian Award from Governor Bill Lee and a Proclamation from Dr. Ken Moore, Mayor of the City of Franklin. A delicious lunch was served topped off with tasty birthday cake and ice cream.

Myrabel grew up in Mechanicsburg, Illinois and graduated from Tri-City High School where she was very involved in the choir and played the flute in the band.  She met her future husband, Arthur “Ray” during those early days when music brought them together.  Ray played the trumpet and they continued to share their love for music throughout the years ahead.

Myrabel attended Browns Business College where she studied stenography. She was employed at a local bank and worked with the loan department and collections.  She married Ray, the love of her life and they were together for 65 years. Ray was an avid farmer and Myrabel assisted him on the farm. They sold soybeans and corn to the local Co-op Elevator and raised sheep, cattle, hogs, and chickens.

Family time has always been very precious to Myrabel. She and Ray raised three children: Jim, Jerry and Janice. They enjoyed traveling to State Parks and going to see family, attending church together and participating in 4-H programs.  Their dog, Sally was a part of the family for 18 years and loved to ride in the back seat of the truck or car on trips. Living on the farm, engaging in church work and participating in the Woman’s Club kept Myrabel busy during those early days!

After the children started school, Myrabel followed her childhood dream to be an artist. She had always loved to paint and draw pictures from the first grade! She began art lessons ($5 each) at the Springfield Art Association and grew to appreciate acrylic paints the most.  Her favorite painting is one she painted of her two granddaughters. Myrabel’s son published a book featuring many of her paintings, which her friends and family cherish! The Fountains has featured her art on display in Art Shows from time to time.

Myrabel moved to The Fountains when it opened in 2013. She thoroughly enjoys the musical entertainment presented each week, scenic drives in Williamson County, Bible Studies, learning about genealogy and visiting with her friends and family. 2022 has started off with a BANG  at The Fountains as Myrable Theobald, in her sparkling, fuschia blouse and crown symbolizing 100 years of WONDERFUL inspires everyone to “keep breathing and enjoy life”!
