M4K Nashville Supports CASA

Mustaches for Kids America (M4K) is what happens when absurdity meets philanthropy! M4K Nashville will have its third major fundraising effort, or as they like to call it “Grow Season,” this month. The group has selected Williamson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as their third nonprofit partner to benefit from their fundraising efforts amid the growing concern regarding the lack of stability in Tennessee’s Foster Care System. Williamson County CASA is a network of nearly 1,000 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates — empowered directly by the courts — offer judges the critical information they need to ensure each child’s rights and needs are met while in foster care. Volunteers help children until they are placed in loving permanent homes. For many abused children, a CASA volunteer is their only constant adult presence. They are actively seeking men brave enough to grow a “stache” to help raise money and for corporate sponsors who want to support the mission of helping kids in middle Tennessee.

Mustaches for Kids comprises nine chapters, in cities across North America, of men who grow mustaches for thirty days to raise money for local children’s charities. Since 1999, Mustaches for Kids has raised over $13,000,000 for children’s charities nationwide.

M4K Nashville was formed in 2021 by Mike Simmons, who had participated in the Lynchburg, VA, chapter in previous years. He quickly recruited several board members and the group hit the ground running. In the last two years, the Nashville chapter has raised over $50,000, benefiting two nonprofits who serve children in the middle Tennessee area – High Hopes Development Center and Barefoot Republic Camp & Retreat Center.
