Creating Memorable & Meaningful Events

The “I Am Williamson County” column features individuals in Williamson County who are known and unknown, as staples of our community; doing good, being seen and exuding Williamson County!

This month, we feature CJ Dickson. CJ is the Founder and Creative Director of CJ’s Off the Square, a garden wedding and event venue in the heart of downtown Franklin. Her passion for the wedding industry and helping couples plan their day while avoiding seeking numerous vendors all over town, is how the all-inclusive event venue came to be. Learn more about CJ in this edition’s interview.

How long have you lived in Williamson County?

CD: My husband and I moved to Franklin in 2004 when I started CJ’s Off the Square. It’s hard to believe it’s almost been twenty years!

What is your profession, and what led you to choose it?

CD: As a small business owner, I wear many hats. Add to the mix that I own a wedding and events venue located on a historic property, and who knows what skill set I’ll have to tap into to make sure everything gets done. I love historic homes and architecture. I also love creating experiences that bring people together. So, an event venue in a historic home in the heart of downtown Franklin is my dream job.

What are three words that best describe you?

CD: Sincere, curious and committed.

Where is your favorite place to go in WC, and why?

CD: I love Main Street. The shops are unique and charming, and there are so many great places to grab a drink with friends or have dinner with my hubby.

What keeps you motivated and inspired?

CD: My clients and my team keep me motivated and inspired. I love understanding what our couples need and coming up with creative ways to deliver that. I also enjoy creating processes and systems that allow my team to provide consistent, excellent service. These two things feed each other as there are always new trends in weddings and events, along with new team members who need to be trained in how I like to do business. It’s a never-ending cycle that I genuinely enjoy.

What is the one thing you do not go a day without?

CD: Snuggles with my Schnoodles! Charlotte and Willoughby, our two schnauzer/poodle pups are my heart.

Tell us about CJ's Off the Square and your involvement.

CD: I started the business just as a place to host events but quickly saw that my clients needed a helping hand when it came to creating meaningful, memorable events. Sourcing and coordinating all of the vendors that contribute to an event, while staying on the theme and on a budget, is not easy. What I’ve developed over time is an all-inclusive approach to hosting weddings and events at the venue that works really well. I am honored that this full-service approach has made us Tennessee’s highest-rated wedding venue.

Finish this statement: "I am Williamson County because…"

CD: I am Williamson County because my business, CJ's Off the Square, embodies the county's unique blend of historic charm and modern elegance. Our dedication to providing exceptional, all-inclusive wedding and event experiences mirrors the county's commitment to creating a sense of belonging for those who live here and to creating unforgettable memories for all who visit.
