If you haven't driven through downtown Franklin recently between 3rd Avenue North, North Margin and the Harpeth River—then you are missing a newly opened City of Franklin park. Once home to the Georgia Boot Factory, Bicentennial Park has been transformed into a vibrant community hub spanning approximately fourteen acres and has the space to host up to 3,000-5,000 people for community events.
Future plans for Bicentennial Park include a continuous riverwalk connecting to Pinkerton Park and enhancing the city's greenway system.
Some Features Include:
- Open-Air Pavilion
- Parking for approximately fifty seven + spaces with bus parking for the downtown area
- Connections to existing trails
- Public plaza telling the history of the interurban rail system
- Multiple picnic areas
- A stage for small community performances or movies in the park
- Infrastructure improvements for this entire area: sewer, water, stormwater, detention etc.
- Site Work – Grading of the full site in anticipation of future parking onsite in a future phase of the park
- Full street improvements for North Margin
- Restoration of the dust collector on site from the former Old Georgia Boot
- Factory Ductworks
- Full landscaping plan
- Event space in this area will accommodate 3k to 5k people
