Within the sweeping panorama of the North Georgia foothills, Château Élan Winery & Resort began with the planting of lush vineyards and has grown into a 3,500-acre luxury destination known for being one of the most awarded wineries on the east coast. Situated just forty minutes northeast of Atlanta and immediately transporting guests to the French countryside, the resort is in the midst of a $25 million renovation, scheduled for completion in November 2019.
The complete transformation introduces a fresh, yet timeless, modernized design while delivering a unique, distinctly southern concept dressed in French undertones, honoring the existing estate’s 16th century-style charm. Beckoning a new generation, the transformation will include a complete overhaul of the lobby, with a facelift to the existing pool terrace and immersive spa. The existing property is home to a 16th century-styled château with a full-service winery and tasting bar, AAA Four Diamond Inn dressed in romantic undertones, an immersive 35,000 square foot European spa, forty-five holes of championship golf, newly renovated tennis center, seven delectable restaurants, a sparkling terrace pool and more. “Embarking on a renovation of this magnitude for a resort destination with such a well-respected reputation requires a committed responsibility to honor the property’s legacy, while still delivering upon the modernized expectation to mirror our ever- growing wine, epicurean and experiential programs,” said Ed Walls, general manager, Château Élan Winery & Resort. “Every single detail was hand-selected with great intention and we cannot wait to introduce the new generation to our beloved Chateau Élan.”
THE CHATEAU STORY

Originally founded by Don & Nancy Panoz, Château Élan was purchased in January 2018 by an affiliate of Greenwich, Connecticut based real estate firm, Wheelock Street Capital and is now managed by HEI Hotels & Resorts.

GRAPE TO GLASS
Extremely driven by the terroir concept, which is based on the fundamental truth that every vineyard gives an unique expression to the wine made from the grapes that are grown on it, our winemaker Simone Bergese selected vineyards in the top areas of California. All of the wines undergo the same quality process, the difference between their final tear depends only by the natural “talent” that the wine will develop and show. Simone’s standards of grape quality allow him to work on a different level of winemaking, which is determined by the product, never by the market. His style and inputs definitely show on our wines but never overpower the true identity of the varieties. The end results are wines that show complexity, sometimes elegant, sometimes powerful, sometimes they will remind you of your Southern grandmother’s backyard muscadine berries and other times they will remind you of Italy, or France, or Napa, or Spain. With more than twenty-nine respected wines, Chateau Elan offers everything from velvety and luscious red reserves to crisp sauvignon blanc and sweet moscato to the rare Tahitian sparkling pineapple wine fit for a king.
