Building Better Banking in Brentwood
As someone born and raised in Brentwood, Jonathan Whitehurst has had the opportunity to watch his community grow and evolve over the years. New businesses, new neighborhoods and new opportunities have transformed Williamson County, but what stands out most to him is how much of Brentwood’s character has remained the same. It’s still a place where neighbors share a common goal, moving the community forward while staying rooted in trust and integrity.
Those same values have guided Jonathan throughout his banking career. Entering the banking industry in 2007, as a credit analyst and underwriter, he gained a strong foundation in understanding businesses and assisting clients in making sound financial decisions. Over time, he advanced into lending and leadership roles, ultimately becoming Southern Bank of Tennessee’s Williamson County President. Since joining Southern Bank four and a half years ago, he has helped serve customers, support local businesses and deepen roots in Brentwood.
Jonathan’s approach to leadership isn’t complicated. “You earn trust over time by showing up, following through and doing what you say you’re going to do,” he says. Whether he’s working with a customer, mentoring a teammate, or helping solve a problem, he believes people notice consistency. It’s why he takes the time to know customers by name and why he works to create an environment where both customers and team members feel valued and respected.
Jonathan and his wife are raising their two sons in Brentwood and stay actively involved in the community they love. Their family serves through missions with Brentwood Baptist Church and participates in the Young Men’s Service League. Jonathan also supports his alma mater, Brentwood High School, and remains engaged with Brentwood Academy, where his sons attend school. For Jonathan, investing in the community isn’t something separate from his work - it’s simply part of being a good neighbor.
Looking ahead, Jonathan’s vision is centered on continued growth and meaningful impact. He is focused on expanding the bank’s presence throughout Williamson County, while continuing to be a strong leader in banking, in the community and at home. Through every opportunity and challenge, his commitment remains the same: serving others and helping Brentwood continue to thrive while building a better banking experience for the customers and communities he serves.
